Character History:
Growing up, Alex sees more of the world by the time that he's eight than most people do their whole lives. His parents explore ruins and take him along, which gives him a love of Ancient Egyptian lore and an avid sense of curiosity. Adventure comes in the form of a temple in Egypt where Alex goes where he's not supposed to and after getting into trouble, spends his time building mousetraps. It's a normal day until men arrive, looking for something and appearing to be up to no good - he shoots them with his slingshot. They end up kicking the scaffold he's on, which causes the pillars to domino over. The entire temple is destroyed.

When they return home, London, Alex offers to help take the chest with the Bracelet of Anubis inside and can't deny the temptation to open it up and put it on, which induces visions. His mom, Evelyn, comes downstairs, but the bracelet won't come off, so he hides a statue inside and pretends as if he didn't do anything wrong. He lies about misplacing the chest key, so that he can get the bracelet off without being discovered, when they're suddenly interrupted by a man demanding the chest. His mother fights them off, which amazes him, and they are soon joined by Ardeth who helps Evelyn fight the intruders as well. They kidnap his mother and he runs outside to tell his Dad, Rick, and his Uncle Jon.

Alex reveals that he put on the bracelet and Ardeth tells him that he might have brought about events that will lead to the apocalypse - frightening him.

Ardeth explains that Alex would have seven days to reach Ahm Shere before the Scorpion King would awaken. He goes on to say that the cult wants to resurrect Imhotep, a mummy, so that he would battle the Scorpion King, because only Imhotep could beat the Scorpion King and take command of his armies. This is heavy news, but there's little time to process it as the group have to go after his mom. Alex is left to guard the car with his Uncle, but when fighting starts and the car won't turn on, Alex suggests that they steal a double-decker bus which they use to help the others. His parents, with Ardeth, rush out followed by mummies who are set on killing them. During the fight against mummy soldiers, Alex is taken because he was seen wearing the bracelet.

A few days later, Alex, who is on a train through Cairo, stays strong even when he's confronted by Imhotep. His attempts at bravery pay off when he's allowed to go to the restroom alone and figures out a way to slip off the train - down a hole under a toilet. He's shot at but doesn't stop him from running until he reaches some temple ruins, but he's caught again by Imhotep, who has him chained up so he can't get away. He continues to give his captors a hard time, not letting them see that he's scared of the death threats or the general situation he's found himself in - he leaves clues for his parents so that they can follow him. When he's discovered doing so, Imhotep sends a tidal wave in his parents direction, leaving Alex to think that they're hurt or dead. Angry, he pushes the mummy away but relief comes not long after. The O'Connell's come to his rescue only to have to run from pygmy mummies who are trying to kill them.

They're on a time crunch. Alex has to make it to the temple before sunrise or the bracelet will kill him - it's Rick who helps him get there, saving his life. What comes next is hard on Alex, as his mom gets stabbed and dies. His dad, in anger, pursues Imhotep, leaving Alex and his Uncle to mourn Evelyn alone. Something his Uncle says reminds him of the Book of the Dead, generating the idea that they could use it to bring Evelyn back - it works. There's a fight (his parents against Imhotep and the Scorpion King) which leads to a race to the top of the pyramid, as everything is being sucked down after the Scorpion King had died. Izzy, who had brought the O'Connell's to find Alex, is waiting in his airship.

They all climb in and he points the ship towards home.

Abilities/Special Powers:
- wicked with a slingshot
- good with hieroglyphs
- knocks down temples like it's his job

Third-Person Sample:
Alex had fallen asleep on the airship, curled up at the back and tucked between his Mom and Dad - Uncle Jon snoring somewhere by his feet. The sun had just set over a sandy horizon and Izzy had them on a smooth course back home, relatively speaking anyway. He can't help that it'd only been minutes after sitting down that he'd gone to sleep, the last few days had been tiring and he was cozy settled in the middle of his family. It had been nice, peaceful. Which makes the sudden transition from comfortably sprawled across two adults to falling into water that much more jarring.

He surfaces, gasping for air and flailing for a few moments before realizing that he's not far from a beach. He swims until he can stand and then he hits his knees, catching his breath. From here, he doesn't recognize anything. The sky above or the ground below and when he calls out for his parents, for his uncle, nobody answers him. Concern lodges in his throat, shoulders hunching up around his ears as water laps over the backs of his shoes. There's a dock with a few small boats nearby, palm trees, beach chairs, and umbrellas bigger than him stuck into the ground. That, as quickly as fear had swept through him, just as swiftly puts him a little bit at ease.

There are people here. Somewhere. All he has to do is find them. Standing, he kicks off his shoes and dumps the water out of them, leaving them on the beach. The further he walks, the more he can see - an orchard to his right and a big house to the north. His parents are probably there and, even though something doesn't seem right, they can explain what's going on. Then they can go home. ( He hasn't been to the museum in ages and there's a new exhibit he wants to see. ) There's nobody outside but he knocks, then pushes it open because he's eight, for Christ's sake and he can't be blamed for forgetting his manners in an emergency.

"Mom? Dad?" A pause. "Uncle Jon? This isn't funny."

He slips as he walks inside, eyes wide and mouth falling open as he stares up at the skylight. Alex doesn't move from that spot, not at first, head tipped back in awe, and when he does speak, it's a soft sound. Barely even a audible as he glances around.

"Mom?"

[Alex has never used a phone before but he hits enough buttons that, after his eighth or ninth try, he's able to post to all of Wonderland.]

I'm looking for my parents, my Mom and Dad. My Uncle Jon, too. [There's a rustling sound as he drops and picks the phone back up, mumbling under his breath that the sucker weighs a goddang ton.] And Izzy. I was just with them and now I'm here.

Yeah, yeah, I already heard the part where this place is like something out of Carroll's book, but that's crazy.

[He's read the story, but it's only a story right? But then, he's seen a mummy come back to life so maybe it isn't that crazy.]

If anyone can help me, I'm sure my parents will be grateful to have me back.

[His voice fades out then comes back in louder than before.]

Oh, I'm Alex. Alex O'Connell.

[The transmission ends.]
